Graebel Appoints Two Key Leaders in Data Security and Legal, Risk and Compliance

Graebel Companies, Inc.’s leadership team is continuing to evolve and grow along with our business. I’m excited to announce the appointment of John Matis to Chief Information Security Officer and the promotion of Eric Pearson to General Counsel and Chief Risk and Compliance Officer. These outstanding leaders will complement the existing leadership team and will focus on legal and technology risk management while supporting our business growth goals and commitment to providing exceptional experiences to our clients and their mobile employees.

John Matis, Chief Information Security Officer

Almost every industry experienced a digital transformation at the start of the pandemic, creating new security challenges and opportunities that have brought data security to the forefront of executive decision-making.

Amid this rapidly changing landscape, Graebel recognizes the crucial role data security and compliance will continue to play in our organization, which is why I’m excited to welcome John to Graebel as our Chief Information Security Officer. John leverages his 20 years of public and private sector security leadership to oversee Graebel’s data security and compliance. In this role, he will lead Graebel’s security strategy and framework to meet the needs of today’s highly mobile workforce and ensure we’re maintaining our clients’ and their mobile employees’ trust in our digital interactions together and within our business practices.

“I’m happy to join a long-standing, family-run organization,” said John. “It’s clear to me that Graebel is focused on people and has each individual’s best interest in mind. Our data security and compliance team will support the company’s overall commitment to people by putting employees, supplier partners, and clients at the forefront of our strategy as we proactively focus on prevention and mitigation to create exceptional experiences.”

Eric Pearson, General Counsel and Chief Risk & Compliance Officer

I’m excited to also announce the promotion of Eric to General Counsel and Chief Risk and Compliance Officer. Eric is responsible for overseeing the legal services provided to Graebel Companies, Inc., in addition to managing risk and compliance. Under Eric’s leadership, sharpened over nearly two decades of legal experience, our legal, risk and compliance and information security functions will work toward the same end goal — identifying risks to Graebel, our clients and partners and establishing protocols to reduce risk on the front end and develop strategies to mitigate where needed.

Eric joined Graebel in October 2020 as Associate General Counsel and draws on his varied experiences at a variety of law firms and in corporate legal departments to evaluate problems from multiple viewpoints, enabling him to better work with a variety of stakeholders including employees, business partners and service providers.

“As Graebel evolves, we need to ensure that we have progressive and compliant policies and procedures in place to continue our history of operating in a legal and compliant manner,” said Eric. “My goal is to embed a legal viewpoint in our organization to support our growth.”

John and Eric will work together to develop strategies to navigate the current risk environment and set our company up for sustained success. I look forward to Eric and John’s leadership to help us continue to create exceptional experiences for clients and mobile employees while staying true to our core values of truth, love and integrity.
