Plan My Move: Introducing New Graebel CitySwitcher® Capabilities

Even More Support for Your Lump Sum Employees

Mobility leaders are well aware that moving to a new city or country can be a complex process for mobile employees, with a lot of decisions to make. Are you selling your house? Renting or buying in your destination city? How will you move your household goods? Have you figured out who your new utility providers will be and how to set them up?

To help mobile employees and anyone who is moving answer these questions and more, Graebel recently introduced a new guided experience called “Plan My Move” on its digital move planning tool, Graebel CitySwitcher®. Plan My Move also is available to Graebel clients and their mobile employees through the Graebel globalCONNECT® technology platform.

Today, most relocation management companies provide lump sum employees with little more than links to providers and minimal guidance on how to manage their own moves successfully. Graebel’s people-first approach is to ensure lump sum employees also have an exceptional experience - and that starts with personalized guidance and helpful resources.

Individuals begin by completing the Plan My Move questionnaire, sharing details about their move and unique needs. People are prompted for information about their home and host city housing plans, household goods shipping preferences and settling-in needs, like help setting up bank accounts, connecting or disconnecting utility service and more. The result is a personalized Move Plan that lives online and on mobile devices, empowering users through a variety of tools, including:

  • A Custom Checklist: Organization is key, especially when it comes to the often very long moving “to-do” list. Keeping track of each task in one spot helps mobile employees and people who are moving to manage timelines and stay on-schedule, while feeling confident and prepared during each step of the journey.
  • Educational Resources: CitySwitcher’s new Plan My Move resources include a “Moving Tips” blog featuring advice from Graebel relocation consultants, such as ideas for moving on a budget. Additionally, users will find digital tools to help compare options and plan wisely. For example, the new “Move it or Buy it” calculator helps people compare the price of purchasing household items in their new destination versus the price of transporting items they already have, using a moving service.
  • Instant Access to Additional Support: Because Graebel has supported so many lump-sum relocations, we recognize that plans can change, and mobile employees may discover they need additional services during the move. Right from their Move Plan, and at any point during their relocation journey, employees can request additional provider support with the click of a button. From here, they are instantly connected with the best provider that can fill their need.
  • Connections to Trusted Partners: Individuals gain access to more than 30 vetted global suppliers that specialize in consumer offerings - serving more than 165 countries as part of Graebel’s Partner Network - who often offer discounts or custom packages specifically for people using CitySwitcher. They can connect easily with companies belonging to each of the three main categories:

    1. Moving Service Providers such as Penske Truck Rental, ShipGo, and Zippy Shell who specialize in do-it-yourself (DIY) relocations, offering rental trucks, moving containers, pods and support for small shipments. For those in need of comprehensive solutions, Atlantic Relocation Systems, a long-time Graebel partner, provides full-service moves, including auto shipment, as well as support for DIY relocations.
    2. Housing Service Providers like Morreale Real Estate Services and members of the Graebel Mortgage Lending Network – including PrimeLending, Rocket Mortgage and US Bank – help with home buying and selling, and mortgages. Providers such as Oasis and 3Sixty offer temporary housing services, and our Destination Service Providers support rental search assistance.
    3. Destination Service Providers such as GO Destination Services and Dwellworks help employees make connections with local providers (doctors, vets, pediatricians, etc.), school and daycare options, utilities, government registrations and more. Similarly, Move Concierge aims to save time and reduce the hassle of dealing with multiple utility and service providers by handling the setup and research on behalf of the customer free of charge.

Graebel took a data-driven approach to creating Plan My Move, using voice-of-the-customer research and market analysis. Graebel coordinates more lump sum relocations than any other relocation management company and leveraged insights from its more than 50,000 lump sum moves in the last couple of years to identify customer needs. This means that mobile employees and anyone moving will receive personalized, research-based guidance through the Plan My Move tool, enhancing their moving process with reliable resources and seamless transitions.
